The Best Acoustic Wedding Songs For Your Wedding Day

Acoustic wedding songs are a popular choice. Their romantic and intimate feel creates a vibe that is sweet and stylish. We are considering “acoustic” as being stripped down songs featuring mostly acoustic guitar, piano, ukulele, etc. The less production, the better. It’s a more simple sound.

Some may want to create an all-acoustic wedding, but mostly we’ve found that acoustic songs sound great in a ceremony, during dinner or better yet, during cocktail hour. We’ve heard many acoustic-only cocktail hour portions of weddings and it really is sweet, romantic and yes, it creates the perfect vibe.

There are many acoustic songs to choose from, so we feature a handful here to give you an idea of what is out there to choose from. Some artists originally performed their song acoustically or they have recorded an acoustic version of their song. There are also wonderful versions of songs done acoustically that are amazing renditions of the original songs.

You’ll find wonderful acoustic songs these days. You’ll probably find too many that you’ll love! Here are some to listen to as well as our full inspirational Spotify playlist at the bottom of this page.

“So Amazing” by Richard Watts

Richard Watts’ version of a Luther Vandross song is a great example here. This acoustic version of Vandross’ song is a great and sweet rendition. This song has been covered by the likes of Beyoncé with Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick (who released the original in 1983) and more. This version is sweet and has a wonderful vibe.

“More Than Words” by Extreme

This song was wildly popular when it was released. So much so that most people didn’t realize that the song was recorded by a hard rock group! “More Than Words” was written by lead singer Gary Cherone after his girlfriend at the time said those words to him. He and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt sat down and wrote this sweet song in mere minutes.

“God Only Knows” by John Legend

John Legend, along with yMusic and Cynthia Erivo created a beautifully different version of the Beach Boys classic “God Only Knows.” This is a great example of how an acoustic re-imagined version of a classic song can pay homage to the original track while creating an incredible feel all its own.

“Love Me Like You Do – Acoustic” by Ellie Goulding

Ellie Goulding had more to say with her hit song “Love Me Like You Do.” She recorded her own acoustic version of her song which is slower and almost sounds like an entirely different song because of the change in tempo alone. With this slower version, Ellie is able to evoke more emotion that is missing from the more upbeat original.

“One Call Away” by Charlie Puth

Talented musician and songwriter Charlie Puth did something similar to what Ellie Goulding did with her hit song. He took his 2015 hit and stripped it down to an acoustic song. The song is closer to how he wrote the song originally. His record label “fancied” it up a bit to be a more commercial song, so Charlie went back to his originally imagined version.

“You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne

This is a lively and upbeat acoustic wedding song. Its catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics express the feeling of finding the one you love and wanting to spend your life with them. The song’s acoustic guitar and Ray LaMontagne’s soulful vocals make it a great choice for a fun and romantic day.

“Wedding Ring” by Glen Hansard

Hansard is a talented Irish-born singer-songwriter. After his early days in an Irish rock band (The Frames), he has made a name for himself with beautiful acoustic ballads like “Wedding Ring.” This song has a beautifully romantic feel to it. It’s a great song to add to your mix of simple love songs.

“It Would Be You (Acoustic)” by Ben Rector & Ingrid Michaelson

Rector and Michaelson recorded a sweet song that truly captures the vibe of a wedding and romantic situation. These amazing artists combine to perform a duet that will give you chills with how sincerely their voices go together.
